If you need earth-shaking bass, you need a subwoofer, but these speakers will kick out a fair amount of bass – enough to feel through your floor. There is no distortion that I can hear, even when I have the system cranked up. Speaker connections were easy, even when I used fat 12-gauge oxygen-free copper wires. The black finish is nice. These play all ranges of music and movies very well. There is not as much low-end bass as I would expect from 2 8″ drivers unless I add it from the receiver (Sony STR-DA1000ES). My receiver only pushes 100 watts/channel, which I was worried, would not be enough… I was wrong. Eric Clapton and the Eagles never sounded so good! If you’re looking for high quality sound with tight bass notes and crisp highs, these are your speakers.
